When the Student is Ready...
The saying goes, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." That's certainly true as many of us can attest. But the opposite of it is also true, "When the student is ready, the teacher will go."
I was on my dear friend, Christine Starmountain's Facebook page today and realizing how much I missed her. She passed away over 6 years ago. She was the one I went to when I had Astrology questions, as she was one of the most knowledgeable people I've every known. And she freely shared her knowledge. She even shared her own teacher, Juanita Peterson, who is also passed. So whenever I needed an insight on a chart I was doing, I'd call her for answers. We called ourselves, "Soul Sisters' because that's what we were.
There was another person in my life who was my spiritual rock. Dr. Judith Larkin Reno was my mentor. She could answer any question I had, even the ones no one else could. She'd studied everything from psychology (she had her doctorate) to mysticism. When I got stuck on my spiritual path it was she who gave me the proverbial "kick in the ass" and kept me going.
Then, after many years of fighting cancer, she was gone. Gone was my support, my beloved friend and confidant.
Was I ready to loose them? No. Not only were they great teachers and mentors, they were dear friends. But as Judith always said, "Look at things through your God Glasses." In other words, look at the big picture.
The big picture said that it was time to stand on my own two feet. To be my own biggest cheerleader. To find my own answers. To help other people to find their answers. And perhaps for her she had "done her time" here on earth and it was time to move on. The truth is, that when you are ready, the teacher disappears, for one reason or another. And you are left standing there like the child who has finally grown to adulthood, the little bird that has been pushed out of the nest.
It's not always easy, but it's the only way you will learn to fly.
